As a new feature of our mobile app, TCU is now offering a simple way to deposit checks right from the comfort of your own home or on the go! Through the TCU mobile app, members can now snap a picture of their check and deposit funds without coming into a branch. Remotely deposited funds up to $2,500 (before 3 p.m. Eastern Standard Time) will generally become available within the next two business days.

Please Note: Existing Online Banking members must request use of the Mobile Deposit feature by filling out the secure form at the bottom of this page. Mobile Deposit requests by existing Online Banking Users will be reviewed and members will be notified of approval via email within two business days.

Mobile Deposit (Remote Deposit Capture) is a free, convenient service through our mobile application that allows you to take pictures of your paper checks with your iPhone, Android smartphone, Apple iPad or Android Tablet, and Amazon Tablets (Fire HD) and deposit them quickly and securely into your Tremont Credit Union accounts. This service enables members to make deposits to their account without coming into a branch. Deposits can be made to your TCU account(s) 24/7.

In order to access Mobile Deposit just logon to your account via Tremont Credit Union’s mobile app. After you have answered the multi-factor questions and accept the terms and conditions, your account balance(s) will appear. Then go to the Deposits tab and click on New Deposit. Enter the amount of the deposit and click continue to start scanning.

Visit the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, or Amazon Appstore to download “Tremont CU Mobile.” In addition to Mobile Deposit, with the TCU app, you’re able to:

  • View account balances
  • Search and view your transaction history
  • Transfer funds between your TCU accounts
  • Make payments to existing Bill Pay payees
  • View and modify payments
  • Locate a TCU branch or fee free network ATM

  • Have a checking account with TCU
  • Be over 18 years old
  • Be a TCU Virtual Branch (online banking) user
  • Must be a member in good standing
  • Members must have TCU account open for at least 30 days

Tremont Credit Union will accept deposits into your TCU checking account.

Google Android models:

  • Android (Froyo) 2.2 or newer
  • Cameras with 2.0+ Megapixel resolution and autofocus
  • Either touch screen or keyboard phones

iPhone 3GS, 4, 4S, 5, 5S, 5C, 6 and 6 Plus models

This service is only available through the use of the TCU mobile application.

Yes. The link between your mobile device and our remote deposit site is completely secure and protected through the mobile application.

There is no limit on the amount of deposits made. However, there is a dollar limit per check of $2,500 and a daily total limit of $2,500.

*Please note that TCU reserves the right to change these limits at any time.

Deposits made via Mobile Deposit will reflect on your account the same business day they are transmitted as long as they are submitted before 3:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Deposits submitted after 3pm will reflect on your account on the next business day. Please note that funds deposited via the mobile applications are generally available within two (2) business days, unless a hold is placed. If you are a new member, for the first 30 days that your account is open, funds will be available on the seventh day after your deposit.

Be sure that the back of the check is endorsed (signed) before taking the snapshots of your check. Additionally, you can include the words “for mobile deposit only” in the endorsement field to identify the check as a mobile deposit.

When you receive confirmation that the credit union received the image, it is recommended to securely store the original check for 14 days after transmission to Tremont Credit Union. This provides you with access to the check if needed during that period. Once the funds are available, you may write “VOID” on the check, and/or destroy the original paper check. Tremont Credit Union recommends you to keep the check in a safe and secure location in the case the mobile deposit is not accepted.

Fees can be assessed if a check is returned for non-sufficient funds, closed account, etc. If you have any questions about potential fees, please contact Tremont Credit Union at 1-800-370-1939.

You can deposit any check drawn on a U.S. financial institution. The following items cannot be deposited using Mobile Deposit:

  • Any item stamped with a “Non-Negotiable” watermark
  • Any item that has been altered
  • Any item that is incomplete
  • Any item that is “stale dated” (over 6 months unless otherwise noted)
  • Any item that is “post dated” (dated for the future)
  • Any third party check
  • Savings Bonds
  • Foreign Checks
  • Travelers Checks
  • Money Orders

No. After six months the check is considered “stale-dated.” You should request to have the issuer of the check reissue it with a current date.

No. Postdated checks are not legal to deposit. Mobile Deposit will reject the check.

The system reviews each check for image quality to see if it can be read. If the system is unable to read the check, you will receive an error message. Please then deposit the check at any Tremont Credit Union Branch or ATM.

Mobile deposits confirmed as received before 3:00 PM Eastern Standard Time on a business day will be credited to your account the same day. Deposits confirmed as received after 3:00 PM and deposits confirmed received on holidays or days that are not Tremont CU business days will be credited to your account on the following business day.

Mobile Deposit may be unavailable temporarily due to system maintenance or technical difficulties, including those of the Internet service provider, cellular service provider, and Internet software. In the event that Mobile Deposit is unavailable, you may deposit original checks at our branches, a Co-Op Shared Branch location, through our ATMs, or by mailing the original check to: Attn: Mobile Deposit, Tremont Credit Union P.O.
