This January, Tremont Credit Union hired its first co-op student from Northeastern University, Akanksha Marwaha. Akanksha is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Marketing from Northeastern’s D’Amore-McKim School of Business. She is an international student from New Delhi, India and is currently a sophomore.
Akanksha is working as a Marketing and Business Development Assistant at our operational office located in Braintree. Some of her responsibilities include drafting and sending member emails, designing promotional materials for various Tremont CU programs and promotions, writing posts for our website, assisting at tabling events at Select Employer Groups, and maintaining our social media accounts.
“The most important thing I hope to gain from this experience is knowledge – knowledge about myself and knowledge about the industry. Co-op is like a trial period for me to make sure that I choose the best career path for myself, and is a chance for me to get some real hands-on industry experience that I would not be able to receive otherwise in the classroom”, says Akanksha. “I was originally drawn to Tremont Credit Union because of my marketing & finance interests, but after learning more about the credit union philosophy and its dedication to its members and community, I was hooked on working for Tremont Credit Union.” Upon graduating in 2019, Akanksha plans on working in marketing for a few years, after which she plans on pursuing an MBA degree.
Northeastern University is a private, research-based university located in Boston, MA. Starting in 1909, Northeastern’s co-operative education program is one of the oldest and largest in the nation. In the co-op program, students alternate between periods of academic study and periods of 6-month long paid professional employment in their area of study.
Welcome to the Tremont Team, Akanksha!
