$2,250 IN SPONSORSHIPS AWARDED BY TREMONT CREDIT UNION
In celebration of National Teachers Appreciation Week in May, Tremont Credit Union hosted its very first BPS Teacher Appreciation Program. This program offered three sponsorships totaling $2,250 to deserving Boston Public School teachers and their classrooms. Over 50 Boston Public School teachers were nominated for this program, and popular vote determined the three winning teachers. The winners were awarded their prizes in September.
TCU and the Boston Public Schools have shared a strong relationship over the years. Tremont Credit Union was founded by Boston Public School teachers, and the Boston Public Schools were Tremont Credit Union’s first Select Employer Group. TCU welcomes any opportunity to celebrate its local BPS teachers and all the hard work and effort they put in and out of the classroom.
The program was held in the form of a web contest. Teachers were nominated using a nomination form found on the TCU website. A Tremont Credit Union selection committee narrowed down the nominations to the top 10 teachers, and after popular vote, the top 3 teachers with the most votes won TCU-sponsorships for their classrooms.
1st prize winner $1,500: Koriana Bradford, a K-5 Music Teacher at the Chittick Elementary School in Mattapan. Koriana will be using her sponsorship earnings to purchase more supplies and musical instruments for her classroom, such as percussions and recorders.
